DAY 2

Breakfast

The best way to start your first morning in Romania is a visit to Parliament Palace.

The Palace of Parliament People’s Palace (1984-1989) is the most impressive administrative construction in Europe which includes hundreds of offices, tens of reception halls or scientific, cultural, socio-political meetings. It has 265.000 m2 on the inside and is the 2nd giant building in the world, after the Pentagon in Washington.

Our next stop is the open air Village Museum (or Romanian Peasant Museum if rains).

The open air Village Museum
It is a great chance to discover and understand the life style from the past of the different areas and regions of Romania. You will have a splendid view of the daily life of the Romanian people in different periods of history. The museum contains a variety of more than 30 houses, barns, churches and water mills. You have also the possibility to look for some nice gifts and souvenirs in the museum’s shop.

The Peasant Museum represents the other possibility for you to have an interesting contact with the beautiful old traditional lifestyle of the Romanian villages. There are many collections available, such as the ceramics collection, the traditional costumes collection, the carpets collection, the wood & furniture collection and the ritual and religious objects collection. The most interesting from the all collections is represented by the seven wooden churches. All of them from the beginning of the XVIII century. Souvenirs shops are available.

Departure to Sinaia .
We drive 120 km North of Bucharest to the town of Sinaia, to show you the perfect combination of a mountain resort and a king’s residence).

Lunch at Sinaia and visits to Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle.

Sinaia Monastery, erected by the military commander Mihail Cantacuzino between 1690-1695 after his return from the Mount Sinai (indeed, this is where the city name originates from). On the right wall, at the church entrance is a picture of Carol the 1st and Queen Elisabeth. You will find images of the Royals all over this mountain city.

Peles Castle, the former royal summer residence, built between 1875-1883, is the most important attraction in Sinaia. After the Second World War it was transformed into a wonderful museum with 160 rooms which contains precious art and sculpture collections, beautiful paintings and candelabras, rare furniture and Italian glass from Murano. You will also visit the weapon room. You can not miss the gardens and terraces around the castle with their famous Italian renascence sculptures.

Pelisor Castle, built between 1899-1902 by the Czech architect Karel Liman and decorated by Bernhard Ludwig from Vienna. The Pelisor belonged to the royal couple Ferdinand and Maria since 1903. Pelisor castle contains a valuable collection of decorative art belonging to the Art- Nouveau style; works of artists like E. Galle, Daum Brothers, J. Hoffman, L.C. Tiffany, Gurschner etc. Among other rooms, you can see ‘The Golden Bedroom’, ’The Chapel’, ’The Golden Room’, which - without any doubt - have unique value.

Departure for Tusnad Spa, 130 km North of Sinaia.

Check in.
Dinner at Tusnad.
End of Day 2.
